I agree with everything you say Daniel. Wealth taxes are very difficult to value and charge. And of course the rich are more mobile. But although I agree with you it’s likely for different reasons.

Wealth is misunderstood. Wealth is the part you keep. Because when we work and exchange our work for your work then we get the fruits of that effort. And for that the wealth we end up with shouldn’t be taken!

However, we all need to fund government. And clearly it has to be sufficient tax take to do what is required.

It is therefore, important to understand that because tax is insufficient then government loom for more taxes to take rather than increase our money supply so we can SPEND more to trigger that increase in taxes needed NOT to increase other new or current taxes.

Thus us better understood if we educate ourselves on the TRIGGERS that give us taxes.

For example, it’s a misunderstood fact that income tax and Nic are triggered by SPENDING! When an employer SPENDS money on the wages of the employee! That’s the trigger.

Also when money is SPENT Vat and Duty are triggered. In fact all taxes are as a result of money moving from one to another.

That’s why wealth taxes are an outlier! It’s not normal. It’s abnormal and based on guesswork. Where other taxes are set by their value.

So you see it’s much better not to have wealth taxes. Instead government must enforce SPENDING. And then ensure sufficient money supply for sufficient tax take.

If all money were to be spent then we only need one tax. Vat. We don’t need any other tax. None.

We can get more tax take from increased spending to such a degree that only one tax is necessary. Sales tax based on all money moving in the same time frame.
